Our Solypsus 9 campaign continues with Mortalis Solypsus! Players will descend into the wreckage of the Solypsus 9 installations, working to uncover the secrets buried therein.
All players are welcome to join in, regardless of having competed in the previous events of the campaign or not. There is no disadvantage to you or your alliance for jumping in now. Players may also change their primary factions and associated alliance.
It would be greatly appreciated if players sign up in advance via the Doodle poll.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions!
The following event reports all include a recap of the campaign to that point:
|May||Apocalypse on Solypsus 9|
|April||Escalation on Solypsus 9|
|March||Alliances of Solypsus 9|
|February||Shift on Solypsus 9|
|January||Drop on Solypsus 9|
Mechanics for the map-based portion of the campaign and the background story are in the Solypsus 9 outline.
This will be a Zone Mortalis styled event, capturing the fighting inside the facilities and underground complexes of Solypsus 9 during the ongoing war. Full details will be posted, but draft notes are being collected here.
Pairings will be done individually, as fratricide and mistaken encounters are common in the chaotic and confusing indoor and underground fighting.
- Armies may be constructed up to 1000 points.
- No more than 300 points may be spent on any unit (including dedicated transports).
- No vehicle may have 4 or more hull points or any armor value of 14 or better.
- No Lords of War, superheavies, gargantuan creatures, flyers, or buildings.
- Unlimited detachments & sources are allowed, as are unbound armies.
- Forge World units and armies are also allowed.
Boards are 4x4. Some representative photos of boards in progress are in this blog post.
Walls are considered impassable terrain that in general cannot be moved through or over, block all line of sight over them regardless of a model's physical height, and cannot be destroyed. Physical cracks created by imperfections in how board tiles line up are not considered to permit line of sight.
An exception is that Necron Canoptek Wraiths, Eldar Warp Spyders, and Grey Knight Interceptors may move through walls.
Some boards may have operable doors set in the walls. Unless noted otherwise for a specific board, doorways are assumed to be 50mm wide and models with bases up to that size may pass through an open door. The height of the doorway is not relevant.
Closed doors block all movement and line of sight. Open doors do not block movement or line of sight, and should be removed from the board or marked as such until closed again.
Each non-vehicle unit can open or close a single door in their movement phase, before or after moving. To do so it must have at least one model within 1" of the door and not be locked in combat. Doors may not be operated if an enemy model is within 1" of the door (on either side). A door may be operated by multiple units in a player turn, i.e., one unit opens a door and moves through, and another closes it.
Closed doors may be targeted by shooting and close combat attacks, and are considered an AV12, single hull point impassable building. The door is removed or marked as permanently open when destroyed.
If a door is destroyed in shooting, then enemy units on the opposite side of the door that are revealed by its destruction may be charged in the assault phase. To do so, the attacking units must not have shot at any other target except the door.
Any in-place doors are considered AV12, single hull point impassable buildings. Destroyed or exploded doors are removed from the board. Any non-vehicle model in base-to-base contact at the beginning or end of the movement phase with a door that has not been destroyed may choose to open or close it, respectively removing and restoring it from and to the board. Only models that physically fit through the width of doorways and hatches may move through them. For the most part this means bases at most 50mm wide, and models at most 2" tall (including the base).
Deep striking is not permitted in general. However, teleporting, summoning, Webway portals, and the Gate to Infinity spell are all permitted. Contact the TOs to determine whether or not your unit may Deep Strike.
Deep strike mishaps suffer a -1 on the results table.
Bikes, jetbikes, artillery, cavalry, and walkers treat all difficult terrain as dangerous terrain.
Turboboosting units must take a dangerous terrain test, regardless of any special abilities.
Jump infantry that move more than 6" in the movement phase must take a dangerous terrain test.
Any vehicle that moves more than 6" must take a dangerous terrain test.
Flying monstrous creatures may not swoop.
Barrage and other indirect attacks are not permitted, except Death Korps Mole weapons and Eldar D-Cannons.
Shooting attacks using a blast marker or template gain the Shred USR. If they already have that USR they gain +1 strength. Blasts do not scatter through walls or closed doors: Move the marker until the edge of the center hole contacts such, at which point the scatter stops. Models on the opposite side of a wall or closed door from the center hole or narrow end of a blast or template, respectively, following a direct line, are not hit. Torrents may not be placed on the opposite side of a wall or closed door from the shooter.
Wrecked vehicles are not removed. Exploded vehicles are replaced with craters.
In making overwatch attacks, a unit may take an Initiative test. If it passes, all legal pistol, assault, rapid fire, and relentless overwatch shots may be made at full BS; in this event the unit cannot apply the Counter Attack special rule. If the test is failed, the unit may overwatch as usual.
Several small prizes for store credit at Redcap's will be awarded, the amount contingent on the number of players. All registration fees go toward these. There will be prizes for overall rankings and campaign achievements as well as painting & craftsmanship efforts.
To be posted shortly.
