Redcap's 6/21 Tournament

Postby BigRedOne82 » Sun Jun 08, 2014 3:42 pm

I'm going to start a thread to discuss what we might be planning to bring to the first tournament with the new edition. I've already posted my massive armored company, but here's my current front-runner, designed to take advantage of having multiple regular detachments and the fact that keeping stuff in reserve is no longer limited:

DARK ANGELS COMBINED ARMS DETACHMENT (PRIMARY)
190 Belial
235 Deathwing Terminators (220) w/ Heavy Flamer (10), Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield (5)
240 Deathwing Terminators (220) w/ Assault Cannon (20)
240 Deathwing Terminators (220) w/ Assault Cannon (20)
BLOOD ANGELS COMBINED ARMS DETACHMENT
115 Captain Raphael (100) w/ Infernus Pistol (15)
140 Furioso Dreadnaught Omnio (125) w/ Frag Cannon (0), Magna-Grapple (15)
35 Drop Pod
140 Furioso Dreadnaught Noctis (125) w/ Frag Cannon (0), Magna-Grapple (15)
35 Drop Pod
110 Death Company Squad Mortis (60) + 2xMarine (40) w/ Hand Flamer (10)
35 Drop Pod
150 Death Company Dreadnaught Goriel (125) w/ Heavy Flamer (10), Magna Grapple (15)
35 Drop Pod
115 Dreadnaught Zael (105) w/ Twin-Linked Heavy Flamer (0), Heavy Flamer (10)
35 Drop Pod
1850 ARMY TOTAL

I'll basically drop everything but the two DC units on the first turn for a massive alpha strike. Then once I've cleared a hole, the two DC pods will land (hopefully) on objectives. As they are Troops choices, their Pods will have Objective Secured, as will the DC Dread!

Good thing I've got all these plasmacannon Sentinels on the assembly line!

I think my best bet to go crazy is a whole bunch of librarians, who will undoubtedly not roll any of the crazy powers and get completely smoked by daemons besides...

Is my understanding correct that only Belial's own squad (presumably the Thunderhammerers) would not scatter? None of these guys get to assault on the deep strike, right?

Only Belial's squad doesn't scatter, so I can get nice and close with that heavy flamer. It's only one dude with a thunder hammer in that squad though, because I only had 5 pts leftover. On the drop, all those termies are twin-linked, and they have Preferred Enemy (CSM) and Split Fire (no longer requires a Ld test either), too.

FYI, I wrote Tom a Demon Prince and Obliterator dual combined arms detachment list yesterday. Not sure if he'll use it or not, but it features two ML3 Princes with extra WC from two ML2 Sorcerers (10 WC total) and 10 Obliterators. Still has four objective secured units, too (actually six when you count the two Rhinos for the CSM squads). Pretty solid I think...

That's the assumption based on what this month was going to be before 7e dropped, but Benn hasn't confirmed anything. I might try to get over to the store early this evening to catch him and ask.
