January 6+7: Winter Apocalypse

Postby tjkopena » Wed Dec 13, 2017 12:38 pm

Details are up for our annual Winter Apocalypse:

http://www.pagegaming.com/index.php?n=W ... Apocalypse

As we have the past few years, Saturday afternoon we'll have a Recon Squad skirmish mini-campaign, which will tie into the Apocalypse held all day Sunday.

We're moving this event to Redcap's this year so that there's more space and we can invite our broader community, which is pretty substantial at this point.

One note to that is Benn says it's ok if people bring in drinks for events taking up an entire gaming space (which all our events do, i.e., not pickup play or an RPG session).

Who is the ORDER Warmaster? I have my list ready.

As long as I don't offend my Jeep's machine spirit again, I'll be there!

Photos from Sunday's Apocalypse have been added to the gallery:

A solid win for the Forces of Order! Space Marines, Steel Legion, and a Titan Legion control the entry bridges and generator stations of a Mechanicus forge under siege by Tyranids, Tau, and Chaos Marines.

Fairly muted first turns on both sides, and even results (Discord 6, Order 5). Discord pulled ahead rounds 2 and 3 (Discord 17-13, Discord 34-25). But Order swung back, making up the difference (Order 46-45) and then pulling ahead (Order 65-56). Heading into round 6 with Order in more or less unbreakable control of most of the primary objectives, Discord conceded.

Very streamlined game, plenty of time remaining to play out a 6th turn. Six Recon Squad players and twelve for the Apocalypse, with 47,000 points on the table.
