Timothy Day here. New to the 40K hobby after reading a ton of the HH novels.
I am currently in the process of creating a Skitarii/AdMech army.
I use the 4 syllable pronunciation of Skitarii (the Mrs. and I are also into cactus and succulent plants where the "-ii" is always two syllables, so I'm sticking with that).
I've been building and painting models since I was a boy. Trains, planes, ships, Gunpla etc. I've been enjoying obsessing over these tiny ranger and vanguard models.

I had a solid D+D campaign running through college as well as a one year Fading Suns campaign that was a lot of fun.
We have a pretty solid collection of vintage jig-saw puzzles.

It was good to meet some of you guys at recent events, I'll attempt to get out to more of them and pretty soon will be ready to start playing.
And by Playing I mean of course slaying in the name of the Omnissiah and whatnot.

That's similar to the accepted pronunciation of Triarii, so, fair enough.

Oh man Fading Suns! I've wanted to play that game for years. I've purged most of my RPG stuff but I can't bring myself to get rid of that book.

Anyway, welcome, hope to see you around.

Hey again!

One thing I would say is to not hesitate to start having models hit the table. Starting from scratch you'll use pretty much any basic units you put together. But you really want to start getting a feel for what kind of play style you like as you start expanding out beyond the core units. I think most people here are pretty down with arranging practice games at pretty low points to help you get a feel for them.
