Carlo and I did a build-and-play for Dark Age and really enjoyed it. I got into the Kukulani and Carlo the Dragyri Air Caste. I just ordered another rulebook and objective card deck. When I was reading the 8th ed rules last weekend the words "faster and fluid" came to mind for me as well. Though after getting in 9 games of 9th so far, it has only proven to be much more fluid feeling and not much faster, yet. A horde army that can split fire can take a good bit of time...
